Mela at Twilight. How purrrrrfect.

When you think of vampires, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Dark clothes, long teeth, violently seductive?
The newest genre of vampire clan will surprise you to say the least. Tragic illnesses threatened the young lives of these unusual vampires while they were still in human form. "Made" into vampires by a merciful undead doctor (while under his care in a hospital), they were inducted into his family as his children - learning to survive on the blood of animals. Strangely fascinating if nothing else.
The main character of this saga is the awkward, brooding Bella Swan, daughter of the chief of police in a small town known for its low clouds and heavy rain. Bella finds herself returning to his household after living with her mother in Arizona.
Yes as you guessed it, young Edward Cullen (vampire son), dark and troubled, stumbles upon Bella as she joins his science class. The chemistry starts bubbling, and I'm not talking about the beakers.
I'll take the love/hate relationship with a side of sexual tension to go please...yummy.
Ancient pacts mixed with feuding vampire clans and teen struggles blend to create the perfect vampire delicacy. If you would rather watch people being feasted on and left for dead than watch two steamy actors try not to kiss, then maybe this movie is just not for you. But to me, there's nothing more entertaining then chemistry and sexual tension bottled in physical perfection. It makes you want to lick the screen. I give this movie a 4 out of 5 star rating.



They could have let the stars kiss a little more; I mean have mercy for goodness sake. Poor Bella. So pop your popcorn and dim the lights and get ready for a ride of romance and drama, topped with action, edge of your seat moments, and an ending that leaves you wanting more. Like that last Oreo in the bag..one just isn't enough.

The highly popular Twilight book series was written by Stephenie Meyer, author of the "House of Night" series and novels like "Prom Nights from Hell" that she co-wrote with her fellow "teen angst" authors to compile 5 stories of adventurous, dangerous,
dramatic prom experiences (lol).
She is most known for her seemingly insider view of the vampire life. Her official bio says Stephenie Meyer graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in English. She lives with her husband and three young sons in Phoenix, Arizona.
After the publication of her first novel, "Twilight", booksellers chose Stephenie Meyer as one of the "most promising new authors of 2005" (Publishers Weekly).
Publishers Weekly gave her a smiling review:
"The main draw here is Bella's infatuation with outsider Edward, the sense of danger inherent in their love, and Edward's inner struggle-a perfect
metaphor for the sexual tension that accompanies adolescence. These will be familiar to nearly every teen, and will keep readers madly flipping the pages of Meyer's tantalizing debut."
I look forward to reading this series and seeing what other appetizing reads she dishes out in the future.
Twilight's award winning director Catherine Hardwicke, also known for her background in "teen angst" movies and pitching to the younger crowds, was hired for this direction in the hopes that much attention would be paid to the intense dynamics between these complex teenage lives and the sultry heat generated between Bella and Edward. Though she was not called back for the direction of the sequel "New Moon", I would call her visionary rendition of this novel a total success. Well written fiction mixed with artistic and well thought out cinematography blend to create a delicious must see! I know I will see it again and again. =)
