The Moove Community Takes a Break in Moorea,
Tahiti by Crystal Angel Fashion Editor We arrived in Papeete, the Capital of Tahiti,
just after dawn had broken and stopped off
at a Les Roulottes before our flight to the Club Bali Hai on the island of Moorea. Les Roulottes are
mobile diners that set up shop around 6 pm
each afternoon along the boat dock and serve
hot meals until the wee hours of the morning.
I grabbed some Poisson cru and Russian potato
salad and savored every bite. I had never been to Tahiti but I was awe-struck
at the beauty of the "Island of Love",
which Tahiti is often called, and the locals
accepted the 200 Avatars with their famous
hospitality. Tahiti is comprised of two main island masses,
Tahiti-Nui (big Tahiti)
and Tahiti-Iti (little
Tahiti), which are
connected by an isthmus
called Plateau of
Taravao. A main road winds
around the island
between the mountains and
the sea while an
interior road climbs past
dairy farms and citrus
groves with panoramic
views Tahiti is the largest and most well known
of the 115 islands and atolls that comprise
French Polynesia. Crystal-clear water, spectacular
coral reefs and black sand beaches surround
and the landscape consists of towering volcanic
Hawaii gets
more visitors
in 10 days than
Tahiti does
in an entire
year.
In ancient
Tahiti, archery
was a sacred sport,
practiced only
by people of
high rank. And
while they
were expert
marksmen, bows and
arrows were
never used
as weapons of war.
It’s common
to put a tiare
(Tahiti’s national
flower, a fragrant
white blossom)
behind
one’s ear --
left side you’re
taken, right
if you’re looking.
Natives of
the lush Austral
Islands grow
many crops
in the fertile
soil. Due to their
diets of foods
rich in fluoride,
people from
these temperate
isles have
beautiful white
teeth.
Tahitians are
very friendly,
but somewhat
shy. Visitors
find that by
offering the first
smile or "ia
ora na"
(hello), they
will be greeted
by wonderful
Tahitian hospitality.
The beautiful
black pearls,
cherished by
natives and
visitors alike,
are indigenous
only in the
Tuomotu Islands
of French Polynesia.
The Chinese
population
(about 10 percent)
monopolizes
the retail
trade, so when Tahitians
talk about
going shopping,
they say they
are going to
"la Chine"
or to the
Chinese.
The Pearl Museum
on Tahiti is
the only museum
in the world
devoted entirely
to pearls.
The letter
"B"
does not exist in
the Tahitian
language. Bora
Bora is actually
Pora Pora,
meaning first
born, but early
visitors heard
it as Bora
Bora.
The word tattoo
originated
in Tahiti. The
legend of Tohu,
the god of
tattoo, describes
painting all
the oceans’
fish in beautiful
colors and
patterns.
Those things
that look like
mail boxes outside
the homes of
Tahitian residents
are not for
mail, but for
French bread
delivery. Residents
get a fresh
loaf dropped
off twice a day.
But alas, they
must go to
the post office
to retrieve
their mail!
The ultimate
private island
escape, Motu
Tapu is the
most photographed
isle in the
South Pacific.
This tiny motu,
just a few
hundred yards
from the main
island of Bora
Bora, is best
described as
the world's most
perfect to
relax.
Tahiti has
the most beautiful

the world..accroding

peaks reaching over dense rainforests of
soft ferns and then plunging deep into the
sea. At high altitudes, the dark, moist tree-ferns
blanket the cloud forests and beautiful waterfalls
cascade into cool rivers and streams. We arrived at the Faa’a Airport and caught
our Air Tahiti flight to Moorea. The sea
plane landed right next to our resort on
crystal blue waters of the South Pacific The accommodations at the Club Bali Hai Hotel
are wonderfully tropical
and authentically
Tahitian. The uniqueness
and Tahitian charm
makes the Club Bali
Hai Hotel a paradise
unrivaled anywhere
on the island. The rooms
are actually overwater
bungalows with private
decks and gorgeous
tropical fish swimming

fans I, like almost everyone else, changed into
a swim suit and headed to the white sand
beaches and clear water of Cook's Bay for
some serious relaxation...lol. Mela, SnugglyLisa,
RedSage, Matti, Jargon, and others hopped
aboard the Liki Tiki for the day-long Motu
Picnic excursion, stopping along the way
to feed and pet some gigantic (but friendly)
stingrays. Lasher, xxRiderXX, Catmoritz, and Dark Embrace
decided on snorkling with Bruno, the local
expert at diving, while others just wandered
off for romantic walks along the unspoiled beaches. Dems hit
the Blue Pineapple bar to find a way to place
a bet on the local crab races. As I laid beneath tha palm tree and felt
the ever-so-soft breeze on my face, I decided
that if I ever move away from Moove, this
is where I want to be. I enjoyed a warm breeze off the lagoon and
a chat with Auntie WoodNymph and Angeleyezs
over a lunch of cold Hinano beer a delicious
salad and a juicy steak with pomme frites.
With nothing on my schedule until the Tahitian
Ballet that evening, I headed off for a quiet
stroll with Angeleyezs. (continued below)
Summer Swim Suits by Waya
After a short nap (hey I deserved it after
all that hard relaxing), I looked though
my wardrobe of Moove fashions to decide what to wear.
With so many talented designers, choosing
an outfit for an outdoor ballet was no easy
task. I thought about wearing one of Rastas
grass skirt designs, then thought about a
brand new Livid hula skirt, but I finally
opted for a wonderul light cotton design
by WickerWoman in soft yellow with just enough
color to give it that tropical feel and headed
to the show just as the sunset... The Les Grands Ballet de Tahiti is a professional
dance group which
gives the Tahitian Islands
a most a unique image.
Their dances, rhythms,
music and songs,
carry the spirit of the
islands in a modern
and new way. It was like
no ballet I had ever
seen. With constant movement, bright colors, wonderfully
yummy dancers with hips that do things they
were never meant to do), the show was one
of the most spectacular extravaganza's I
have ever seen, anywhere. Even Dems, Vallian,
Victor, Damion and Kuhl were getting into
it.

Our Night with the Les Grands Ballets de
Tahiti
After the show we all headed to one of the
local restaurants for a late dinner. Dems
and some of the other boys headed back to
the The Blue Pineapple, while the Raydens
decided on Alfredo's. Heatherr, MunichDoll, Mela, Ky and JoJo decided on
the Les Nouveaux Mondes. Le Cocotier was
the gathering place for Livid, Dark Embrace,
Secretwords, Ladyfire and Paccy. Angeleyezs
and I along with MaggyMay, Sabrewolf, Nymph
and Matti chose Le Mahogany for our dining
experience. Le Mahogany is popular with both visitors
and locals, and this
Fashion editor fully
understands why.
Their excellent menu offers
delicious dishes
that range from their specialty
of Chinese cuisine
to thick, perfect steaks
and local delicacies
like fresh swordfish
and mahi mahi. I had the Mahi Mahi, and it was sooooo delicious
I can't even describe it.
After a couple of
Tahitian Teas (vodka,
rum,
gin, triple sec,
orange juice, cranberry
juice), I took one
last stroll along
the
beach and headed
to my bungalow. I
fell asleep
knowing that this
had been one of those
rare
purrrfect days in
my life. I smiled
as I
fell drifted off
to sleep.
