The limo driver found us a nice grassy knoll
right beneath where the fireworks were to
happen and we relaxed under a darkening sky
as the lights of Tokyo twinkled off in the distance. I was just about to doze off from all the
food I had eaten when a BOOM shook the ground and I almost jumped out
of my skin. The BOOM was followed by a gorgeous orange starburst
and ...well, okay, I did oooohhh and ahhhhhh
a bunch. The fireworks just kept coming, over and
over again for what seemed to last for hours.
It was the most impressive display of light
and BOOMS I have
ever seen. Mela leaned over
between booms and
whispered, "My friend
Asakusabashi-Kuramae put this together - pretty kewl huh?".
Before I could answer
more BOOMS and more light and ...yes, more oohhhh and
ahhhs. After the fireworks, we both were major wired,
and had the limo
driver take us to Womb, a four-level, subterranean super-club where
big name, highly paid foreign DJs spin the
tunes. The crowd is an ecletic mix of 20-
to 35-year-old students, workers, musicians,
actors, models, fashionista and other beautiful
people under the biggest mirror ball in the
country. Mela Blackberried Auntie to let
her know we would be picking her and MysteryMan
up at Yellows after running by the Hotel
to change and freshen up.

At the hotel, I decided on a pair of Jelly Beanz silk low rider slacks and a Moon Gothic
top by Dark Embrace, while Mela chose to wear her own designs.
We swung by Yellows,
picked up Auntie and
headed to the Womb. We entered the Club and it was rocking. We
found a table and watched as ordinary locals
and tourists alike tried their hand at singing
Karaoke. I was cracking up. "Nobody
here was going on American Idol any time
soon", I told Mela, as I sipped my Long
Island Ice Tea. Between Karaoke sets, Auntie Nymph, MysteryMan,
Mela and I danced to Alternative Japanese
Club tunes and I drank two more Ice Teas.
I was feeling pretty good. LOL. It took alot of persuasion by Mela ( I am
major shy when it comes to crowds), but finally
the two of us jumped up on the Karaoke stage,
and Mela pressed a few buttons and the crowd
roared as the first few notes of Free Bird
began to play. Mela jumped right on it, "If I leave here tomorrow, will you still remember
me". Mela has a really good singing voice
and I lost my nervousness (hmmm, what is
in a Long Island Ice Tea anyway) and the
two of us started belting out lyrics - "...I'm as free as as a bird...nowwwww, and
this bird you cannot
cage". It was the most fun I have had in a long
time, and as Mela sang the final words, the
crowd went just plain silly and started clapping
and hooting and hollering like a bunch of
relatives at a Hogeye County Fair pig race.
After a quick bow by Mela and a very ladylike
curtsy by me, we dashed off the stage , took
one more swig of our Ice Teas and headed
back to the Hotel for some serious sleep.
About halfway home we realized we forgot
Auntie and Mystery Man and had to turn around
and go back to get them . We arrived at the
Hotel, exausted but happy, at around 3:30
A.M.
With Angel One scheduled to take-off for
Hong Kong at 11:00 in the morning, all three
of us wasted no time in getting ready for
bed and falling asleep. The last thing I
remember is hearing Mela giggle and say under
her breath....."shy, my ass. LOL
