The Ink Master Jargon Black, Moove Tattoo Artist, Hunk and
oh yeah, he is my Dad too. Okay, I know everyone is going to be thinking
I did this interview with Jargon because
he is my Dad, and you would be partially
correct. I am still working on my interview
skills and with 3 fewer days this month than
in January to get the magazine out, I needed
help - and who better to help you than your
family. But me being the spoiled only child of Jargon
is not the only reason I chose him for this
months interview or because his name is Black
which really fits in nicely to the theme
for March. Jargon is an artist and his tattoos
adorn some of the most beautiful people in
Moove. Since this magazine focuses on design,
fashion and the beautiful people (which we
all are), it made sense to sit down with
Dad and chat. Jargons Tattoo Parlour is hidden behind an
abandoned warehouse in the old Industrial
section of Rose on the first floor of his
three story residence. It was easy to find,
since Jargons fire engine red Ferrari was
parked out front like a beacon of light in
a dreary part of town. Since the Parlour is going through renovation,
Jargon took me to the Penthouse where we
sat on the floor and talked.
The Amazing Body Art of Jargon
*Torrence*: How did you learn to make tattoos in here? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Well before I came to Moove I asked a few
people if there was a way to do them and I had the idea to make my club a tattoo
studio. *Torrence*: Had there been inkmasters before? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: *Lethal Lita* she was the one who taught
me and yes, there were a few that had done
tattoos before I moved to Rose but not many
that still do them *Torrence*: Is Lethal Lital still in Moove? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: She just has come back from a long business
trip which took her around the world. *Torrence*: Do you remember your first tattoo? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Just a minute, I have them all written
down here in my ledger. (Jargon pulls out an old leather bound ledger
and starts flipping through it) *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: I had made some personals for myself to
test out my skills and let's see.... the
first one i made from my shop was for *Nite
Hawk*.
The ledger reminds me that it was a couple
of barbed wire arm bands and a name on his
forearm. *Torrence*: That sounds too kewl. Your tattoos, your
personal ones, have an Oriental look. Any
reason for that? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: I have a Chinese symbol over my heart,
it is for someone who stole my heart. *Torrence*: What does the symbol mean?
:*Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: That is more of a personal question and
I would like to stay away from any discussion
of a personal nature. *Torrence*: Whatever *Torrence*: So the tribal designs seem to be very popular
both here in Moove and in the world beyond.
Do you find that there is a high demand for
the tribal stuff? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Yes, they show up alot sharper and the
detail for tribals shows up better on the
residents of Moove. *Torrence*: shhh, I did research on tattoos so let
me ask a few technical questions. *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: LOL. Okay Lil One ask away. *Torrence*: Some tattoos are very fine and detailed
even after a period of time while some get
fuzzy looking and blurry? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: The sharper designs are from using what is
called, "a one liner"...one needle
instead of as many as ten, but it takes longer
and tribal really isn't that detailed, nit
detailed enough to use a one liner. *Torrence*: How do you handle the squimish ones, the
ones that you know are gonna hurt from it, or bleeders? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Well the standard practice is to do a test
secton with no ink in the needle so they
can get used to the feel..... *Torrence*: Oh, so if they can't stand the pain, they
can scoot away? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Exactly, but most come back for more *Torrence*: Who do you do more for, boys or girls? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: : I think its been about 50 / 50. I'm an
eqaul opportunity Tattooist. *Torrence*: What is he most unusual place you have
ever given a tattoo? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: The face or a neck, they are the most sensitive. *Torrence*: Looking back, at all your tattoos, was
there one where when you were finished you
sat back and said.... WOW, did I really make
that? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Yes, the one for your Aunt Angel *Torrence*: The one down her back and legs, the vines? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Yes *Torrence*: That is a great one, no doubt
*Torrence*: So tell me, why? What is it that makes
you want to do body art? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: The artistic side of it, the creation of
something from really nothing. *Torrence*: Is it the actual work or seeing the final
result? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Both really. I like the actual work , placing it, finding
how and where it fits best on the person
- then seeing the final result and how it
flows, *Torrence* Do you think about the person you are making
the art for when you do it or does it just
flow? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Well yes, I think about them, and giving
them what they want. *Torrence*: What about safety? How do you make sure
no one will get sick from the tattoos? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: i use a new needle for each tattoo, and
all my equipment is autoclaved - high tech cleaning santiary stuff. *Torrence*: What is autoclaved? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: An autoclave machine is a pressurized device
designed to heat aqueous solutions above
their boiling point to achieve sterilization. *Torrence* Yeah, I got that...NOT! ....LOL *Torrence*: You do not charge for your creations, but
ask that if they like it, to pay you what
it is worth, is that correct? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Yes, but honestly if they are happy with
it, I just ask them to tell people who did
it if someone asks. *Torrence*: Can you remember the most someone has ever
paid for one of your tattoos? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: I think it was 4000.00 or 5000.00 *Torrence*: WOW *Torrence*: Are you breaking any new ground? Artwise
or is there something that has been elusive
that you want to do? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Not really. Ijust want to share my creativity,
my artwork with whomever wants to be a part
of it. *Torrence*: Last question *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: awwwwwwwwwww *Torrence*: After you do a piece on someone, do you
feel a connection to that person? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Of course, I try to make sure they are
pleased, and if they have any problems or
questions, i of course want to help them
and hopefully they will come back. *Torrence*: How do they find your tattoo parlour, usually
they are on dim lit streets next to pawn
shops, where is yours? *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Well, rihgt now, my shop is closed for
repairs, not repairs really, more of a renovation
- but i still do my work by appointment
*Torrence*: Well, thank you so much for your time and
insight into the wonderful world of Moove
tattoos....oh and I still love mine. *Jargon_Black-§ìñZ*: Well, thank you Tory. It has been fun. After the interview I was told by Dad that
my jeans were too tight and to change into
something more appropriate. Geeeesh.
