Eileen's photography career began when she
moved
to Telluride
in 1985.
The move to Telluride
allowed
her to
act on
her own dreams of photographing
full
time.
Her focus
had been on the man-made
beauties
of bridges
and buildings
in the
midst
of the
bustling
emergence of technology
in Silicon
Valley.
Her move
to Telluride
was more
than
a dream
realized and a change
of place.
Her focus
and dedication
were now
re-directed
to the
beauty
in God's creation
with
the personal
challenge
of reflecting
the scope
and complexity
of nature
and people
of the
San Juan
Mountains
and the Four Corners
region
through
black-and-white
photography.

Eileen lives for light. She finds its full
spectrum
within the landscapes and portraits
she photographs.
By working in black-and-white,
she finds
that details within the spectrum
of light
have room to come into focus. Every
element
of the photograph has time to unfold
in both
the photographer's and the viewer's
eye when
seen in black-and-white. Hiking,
skiing,
jeeping and flying in helicopters
with
a 4x5 Linhof field camera to peaks,
canyons
and other remote locations are enhanced
when
she revives those images in her studio.
She enjoys
every step in producing her images
from
finding the unique quality of light
in the
landscape and finding a natural environment
for her
Native American portraits through
the meticulous
and creative darkroom process
and the
final presentation.
